The 4 heroes of MVP Legends SRD Tactics, the Barbarian, the Cleric, the Paladin and the Wizard, under a sky of fire, water, earth and wind above the city at night

Nextborn games · Pre-alpha

2 turn-based tactical RPGs, one world.

In this world, the elements of nature drive the economy, and whoever controls that power decides who eats. It is a story about power, belief and what leads each of us to choose what we choose. 3 years until the night everything changes. You know it is coming. The heroes don't.

SRD Tactics is in pre-alpha, version 0.1, and you can already play it in your browser. MVP Legends, our first game, stays online as a record of where we started. Both names are still working titles.

A story written before the first line of code

The world came before the game: dozens of pages of cities, conflicts, heroes and a full timeline. Writing it was the first part. The harder part is telling that story through play, because in a game every battle, every rest and every choice has to push the story forward. That fit is what we are refining now, one game at a time.

It is a fantasy world where the elements of nature drive the economy, and whoever controls that power decides who eats. A story about power, belief and what leads each person to decide what they decide, in a world where every choice comes with a cost.

SRD Tactics is the prelude: the 3 years leading up to the night everything changes. From the first scene, you know that night is coming. The heroes don't. What happens after it is the beginning of the larger story, which continues in the games to come.

A 12-year-old will live a fantasy adventure. Someone who studies politics, history or human behavior will recognize real questions humanity has always asked, sitting just beneath it. For both, the hope is the same: to finish the game thinking a little differently about why people do what they do, and maybe about themselves.

We will tell the full story and the behind-the-scenes in the devlog.

MVP Legends SRD Tactics: the prelude, with the combat tabletop players already know

Pre-alpha, version 0.1 · Made for PC · Play in your browser · Free

The evolution of MVP Legends. A turn-based tactical RPG for PC, built on the open rules of the SRD 5.2: the same classes, spells and d20 rolls that millions of tables use. If you have ever sat at an RPG table, you will recognize everything in the first battle, and every roll stays visible. On screen, position, terrain and rest matter as much as the dice. 3 difficulty levels: one for living the story, one with the pure tabletop rules, and one for those who want every decision on the edge.

It is the prelude to the story: the 3 years leading up to the night everything changes.

What you will find in version 0.1. This version is what we built in the first week, from the first document to now. Combat works, all 3 difficulty levels are in, and the story takes its first steps. A lot of it is still a draft, from art to sound to battle balance. So come expecting a starting point, rather than the full game. We opened it this early because we want to build this game together with the people who play it.

MVP Legends: the first step, live in 3 weeks

The studio's first game · Development paused · Browser, PC and mobile · Free

The studio's first game. A turn-based tactical RPG that blends grid battles with JRPG elements and ideas borrowed from mobile games: you lead a squad from city to city, in a world where the elements are disappearing. From the first line of code to a live demo took 3 weeks.

Playing that demo taught us what we wanted to keep and what had to change. It mixed too many styles for a first game, and a small studio goes further when it picks a clear audience and a scope it can finish. So we paused MVP Legends and carried the world, the story and everything we learned into a focused game: SRD Tactics.

That path is closed. MVP Legends will not get new versions, and the game that tells the full story will be a different one, built from scratch on everything we learned here. We keep the demo online because it is part of our journey. Play it to see where we came from.

MVP Legends title screen, with the cast of heroes above the city at night
An MVP Legends battle in a forest clearing, with the heroine's movement area in blue
An MVP Legends battle in a canyon, with pits in the ground and enemies around
Painting of the MVP Legends town, with the tower, the houses and the square
MVP Legends journey map, with trails between mountains, rivers and ruins

The next step for SRD Tactics depends on what you tell us

Played it? Tell us what worked, where you got stuck and what you want to see in the next versions. You can also talk about the website, the studio or anything else. We read every comment, and anyone who leaves contact details gets a reply.
